About FACE

FACE—the Faculty and College Excellence campaign—is a nationwide initiative on the part of the American Federation of Teachers and other organizations to address the growing staffing crisis that is threatening the quality of higher education across the United States. The goal of FACE is to ensure that all faculty members receive the financial and professional support they need to do their best work by, among other things:

• Promoting pro-rata pay and benefits for contingent faculty; and
• Establishing a better balance between the number of full-time tenured faculty and contingent faculty by winning support for hiring more full-time tenure-eligible faculty.

Through the FACE campaign, the AFT is promoting legislation in the states, seeking public support and negotiating on campuses to achieve these goals.
